Living in Tahoe, we tend to get only two seasons here. Those are winter(like ten months of the year) and summer. This year however, we got a nice fall, which I must say is absolutely breathtaking here. Today Robert and I went on a walk on the trail that is close by our house, and I couldn't help but feel that warm, happy sensation as I took in all that was around me. The leaves on the trees are a mix of beautiful reds and yellows and the surrounding fields have that nice golden color to them now. We stopped by a small creek that runs off the side of the trail and just watched it run for awhile. Robert stuck his hand in and immediately shouted, "THAT'S COLD!". I could have said, "Yeah, it's probably going to be cold," but I just laughed instead.
We continued our walk up to Nevada Beach and just sat and watched the lake for awhile. It was so calm and peaceful, which is a completely different scene from the summer months up here. To be honest, it was really nice not having to deal with crowds that are usually there. It was kinda nice just to listen to nature for a bit.
We walked back home and Robert set a nice fire for me in the fireplace. I lit my fall scented candles,(Yankee Candles of course) and curled up with a blanket. I attempted to do a little studying ( I got a little done) but was pretty much unsuccessful because I just was enjoying the coziness I felt too much. I love fall. I love the brisk feeling in the air, and the warm clothes I get to dig out of my closet seasonally. I love fires in the fireplace and hot cocoa to drink. I love lighting candles and the early sunsets. I wish it could be this way up here all year long. But alas, in a few weeks we will be getting the seasonal snow. I'm kind of looking forward to it. What I am looking forward to is decorating the house for the holidays, learning to snowboard (I'm going to do it this year!) and spending time with my family and friends. :)
